Casseroles are dishes used to prepare and serve food. These dishes are large and pot shaped with handles on them. This tableware is usually made of glass, cast iron or plastic and is generally available with a lid. However there are also some dishes without the lid that are used for baking.

Design N’ Utility

These serving dishes are used to prepare stews and soups. The design of the casserole is such that it keeps the food hot and doesn’t allow the heat to escape. Stewing meat in the dishes is quite popular as it enhances the taste. One can cook tuna with cream of mushroom and peas, pasta and chicken alfrado, Moroccan lamb casserole and macaroni with cheese. Food when baked in a casserole and served hot makes the meal a finger-licking delicacy.

Casserole is an indispensable utensil for a big bash lunch or dinner. Many people also consider these dishes as a status symbol. Serving food in these dishes makes the food look attractive and mouth-watering. The dishes are available with beautiful designs and paintings also making it an essential ingredient of a family get-together kitchenware. But it is recommended to stick to plain looking tableware when it comes to using them in microwave. This is because the print or decoration on fancy casseroles may react with the micro waves and make the foodstuff inedible.

You should use dishes which are heat resistant while baking and cooking to avoid any hazard. Heat resistant glass dishes are usually used to cook delicious sausage, beef, pork, bean, steak, lentil and fish casseroles. These dishes are not only used for cooking and serving but also freezing particular food items to preserve them.

To keep the food warm for a longer period, layer the dishes with an aluminum foil before baking. Transfer the baked items holding with the over-hanging foil into a new casserole. Garnishing the cooked material while it’s inside these dishes makes it look attractive and palatable.

There are many popular brands manufacturing these dishes. Of them, china casserole dishes stands tall when it comes to decorative patterns and styles. These dishes make a kitchen statement and are now a must-have in houses.

Keeping Dishes Clean

· If the casserole dishes get scorched from the bottom, hours of soaking is not required; just heat the dishes from the bottom. Later, on, sprinkle baking soda all over the dish and wash it with dishwashing liquid and scrubber.

· The charred food pieces in stainless steel dishes can be a nightmare to clean. Just boil water with white vinegar, lemon wedges. Let the solution stand in the dishes for some time. Clean with dishwashing soap after pouring out the solution.

Dishware requires adequate care and cleaning as it deals with food and health of family and friends. These casseroles dishes have become an essential component in the kitchen and daily lives of one and all, today.

You’re here to learn how to set your favorite kitchenware and dishes on the dinner table. A neatly set table creates the perfect ambience for a lovely dinner. So, here we go…

The first rule: Everything should be placed with even space between them. This creates symmetry and gives a “wow” effect. If it’s a formal dinner party, sterling silverware is the perfect choice. Use it in order, beginning from the appetizers to main course.

Start…

…by setting the dinner plates. Take care to keep enough space between the plates so that each guest can eat comfortably. Ideally, the distance between plate centers should be 2 feet for enough elbow room. Once you set the dishes, set other tableware accordingly to strike a balance.

Remember…

· Place the glasses and cups on the right hand of the plate.

· The salad and butter plate goes on the left.

· Set the forks on the left side of the plate, and spoons and knives to the right side.

· The cutting edge of the knives should face the plate.

· If you’re using a cocktail fork, it goes to the outermost right of the plate.

· The handles of all utensils should be in line.

· For dessert, place the silverware above the plate or you can just use your dessert silverware.

· When serving dessert, the handle of fork should be towards the left while the handle of knife or spoon should be towards the right. The cutting edge of knife should face down.

· Use napkin rings to place the napkins with a neat fold.

· Your tablecloth should be squeaky clean with not a spot on it. The same goes for the dishes and other cutlery.

Setting The Drinks

Is a formal dinner complete without wine? No way! So, here we go with the glasses…

· Place wine goblets in a straight row above the knives. They should be at an angle, starting from the tallest glass to the smallest one.

· For example, place a water goblet first. To its front, place the wine glass. The dessert wine glass should be closest to the guest.

· If you’re having iced tea instead of wine, place iced tea glasses and water tumblers. For beers, use mugs.

· If you’re having coffee with dinner, the cup and saucer should be at the right side of the setting. Place the coffee spoon at the right of the saucer.

· You can even serve the coffee with the dessert.

A well-set glass dining table creates an impression. It speaks about your personality and how organized you are. Moreover, with all the dishes and kitchenware in order, the food looks yummier to the guests and so does the dinner conversation! On the other hand, a disorderly table can distract attention and even make your guests not want to eat at all!

Setting the dinner table is an art. Bring out your exquisite kitchenware and dishes and practice laying the table for a stylish serving. Be the perfect host!

Today, the frying pan has become a household kitchenware. It is almost impossible to prepare breakfast, lunch or dinner without using these dishes. As the name indicates, frying pan is meant for frying. However, these deep-frying dishes also sear and brown the food. These cooking dishes are available in different sizes, brands and metals. Initially, they were made out of cast iron but today, it’s mostly stainless steel or aluminum.

Design

A flat bottom, shallow body with a long handle is the basic design of a frying pan. The structure of these dishes makes them user-friendly and safe. The dish can either be with or without a lid. A smaller pan with a lid is called a sauté pan. A teflon coating on the surface of the pan makes it non-stick. If this pan is overheated, the coating tends to melt. Excess washing or use of metal spatulas may also spoil the coating of the apparatus.

Utility

A frying pan can be virtually used to prepare everything and anything. Food requires less oil when prepared in a frying pan, henceforth making it healthy and not too oily. Because of its structure, theese dishes distribute the heat equally on the surface and inside, making the food delectable. From roasting to frying, from preparing appetizer soups to cooking main course, this kitchenware item consumes less time.

Types Of Frying Pans

There are different types of dishes to carry out distinct functions like frying, sautéing, deep frying. A normal frying pan is generally used to cook vegetables and chicken, while the sauté pan is a specialized kitchenware to cook soups, sauces, searing and roasting. The deep-frying pan deep fries the vegetables and is ideal to prepare snacks like French fries, bread rolls, fried fish and steaks. While the electric pan, which is an expensive option, also bakes pizza, prepares fudge and more sumptuous dishes.

Centuries ago, the frying pans were considered as frivolities but now they are a household need. This utensil gained popularity gradually by the word-of-mouth. Their versatility makes them popular cooking dishes among the top chefs of prime hotels and restaurants.

Not only because they have multiple usage, but also because the apparatus is easy to use and maintain. These dishes have created a niche for themselves in the middle of huge range of kitchenware items. Amongst the health conscious community, the frying pan is a popular choice.

Kitchenware Care Tips

· One should be very careful while cleaning and washing the dishes, as the polish may come out if scratched.

· If the dishes are quite greasy, add a teaspoon of salt and then heat it, later just clean it with a crumbled tissue-paper.

· Always use frying pans with bakelite and permanent handles.

· To get rid of the bad and old spots from the bottom of the pan, heat it and then scrub it with utensil cleaning liquid.

The greasy kitchenware trouble can be easily solved by following the guidelines. This would make your utensils shine, making you love cooking and your kitchen. So now don that chef’s cap and get all the admiration from your family by cooking great dishes in your frying pan.
